About Center for Project Management and Information Systems (PMIS)
Historical Background of PMIS:
Center for Project Management and Information Systems (PMIS) has started the journey in 2016 under the University of Dhaka. This center is the 51st center of the University of Dhaka approved by the Syndicate of the university under the Dhaka University Ordinance of 1973. Since the inception this center has been operating and contributing to the national economy with utmost success.
Idea behind the Inception of PMIS:
The single idea behind the inception of this center is to incorporate the project management view in information systems and technology consultancy in Bangladesh which was unprecedented before the commencement of PMIS. In project management approach, score, time, quality and cost are considered as the crucial elements, whereas the constraints regarding these elements are optimized scientifically which ensures overall efficiency and effectiveness. Moreover, each project is considered strategically which underpins the importance of proper initiation, planning, execution, controlling and termination of projects. These approaches are quite untraceable in conventional ways of providing information systems and information technology related consultancy services practiced by the traditional firms and research centers in Bangladesh.
Commitments of PMIS:
According to the Goal #9 (Industries, Innovation and Infrastructure) of Sustainable Development Goal “Investments in infrastructure – transport, irrigation, energy and information and communication technology – are crucial to achieving sustainable development and empowering communities in many countries.” PMIS is committed to serve the ninth goal of SDG primarily focusing on information and communication technology developments in Bangladesh. The ninth-goal targets have outlined the intended deliverables and operating objectives of PMIS in the following areas by updating technological capabilities in macro and micro levels of Bangladesh.
